Thank you for your interest in the role of Director of Children’s Social Care at the London Borough of Harrow.

This is a pivotal moment for Children’s Services in Harrow. Following our recent ILACS and the remodelling of our senior leadership team, we are seeking an exceptional leader to join us at a critical point in our improvement journey. We are looking for a Director who shares my passion for children’s services, holds high standards of practice, and is committed to delivering meaningful and lasting outcomes for children and families across the borough.

The Director of Children’s Social Care is a key leadership role, providing visible, values‑led direction to our frontline services. You will be accountable for ensuring children are protected and supported through social work practice that is both rigorous and relational, with Children’s lived experiences at the heart of everything we do. Your leadership will be central to driving sustained improvement, strengthening practice, and embedding a strong safeguarding culture across the service.

Our ambition goes beyond returning to a ‘good’ judgement. We are determined to become truly outstanding and this role will be instrumental in achieving that goal.

Harrow is one of London’s most diverse boroughs, with a strong ethos of inclusion and ambition. The council is a genuinely great place to work, with a culture where staff feel valued, supported and empowered.
